Insurance Claim Checklist

 

MY WATER DAMAGE HEROreceives a call from the homeowner or business.

 

MY WATER DAMAGE HEROcalls and confirms the emergency with the homeowner or business.

 

MY WATER DAMAGE HEROreceive payment for dispatch from the homeowner or business.

 

Homeowner signs the work authorization for MY WATER DAMAGE HEROto dispatch.

 

Homeowner or business contacts their insurance company to place an insurance claim (they can do this on the phone with MY WATER DAMAGE HEROor wait for MY WATER DAMAGE HEROto arrive to do so).

 

The Claim department will provide the homeowner a claim # to give to MY WATER DAMAGE HEROto use on all communication in relation to this claim management.

 

MY WATER DAMAGE HEROwill dispatch to the location and perform water extraction. Drying equipment will be set up after the water is removed and moisture readings will be taken.

 

While emergency mitigation is occurring, MY WATER DAMAGE HEROwill reach out to the Insurance Agent to receive a copy of the Insurance Policy of the Homeowner or Business and confirm insurance coverage of the homeowner/business. This is a complimentary insurance policy review.

 

An Insurance Adjuster will be assigned to the claim. The insurance agent for the homeowner or adjuster will provide the contact information to the homeowner/business.

 

The homeowner/business will provide MY WATER DAMAGE HEROwith the contact information for the Insurance Adjuster. 

 

1-800 Water Damage of South
Berks will work directly with the Insurance Adjuster on the claim.

 

Over the course of the next few days, MY WATER DAMAGE HEROwill return to the location to monitor the drying equipment and continue to take moisture readings. Dry logs will be kept for the insurance company and the home/business will be restored to industry standards for drying (walls, floors,ceiling, etc.).

 

As drying is completing, MY WATER DAMAGE HEROis taking measurements and preparing an estimate for reconstruction to return your home or business to like condition before the disaster occurred. 

 

This estimate will be submitted to the Insurance Adjuster for approval as a part of your insurance claim.

 

The Insurance Adjuster sets an appointment with the homeowner/business and/or MY WATER DAMAGE HEROto inspect the property.

 

 

The insurance adjuster may ask MY WATER DAMAGE HEROto be present during the inspection, and/or they may just want copies of the estimate and documentation from the claim. It will depend upon the severity of the loss.

 

The Insurance Adjuster will prepare an insurance estimate for emergency service and reconstruction based upon the homeowner‘s (business‘s) insurance policy.

 

The Insurance Adjuster will review all documentation from MY WATER DAMAGE HEROand compare it to the policy of the homeowner/business. 

 

They will approve the emergency mitigation (drying and water extraction) and then advise MY WATER DAMAGE HEROof what reconstruction work is approved based upon the insurance policy of the homeowner/business.*

 

No reconstruction work may be started or completed until: Remediation work is completed (extraction and drying) Remediation work is paid for in full Work Authorization and estimate are signed for Reconstruction 50% deposit is paid for Reconstruction**The Insurance Company will submit payment for the emergency work (extraction and drying) and reconstruction directly to 1-800 Water Damage of South Berks, minus deductible of the homeowner/business.

 

****If any work in the estimate provided by MY WATER DAMAGE HEROis not approved by insurance, MY WATER DAMAGE HEROwill review the estimate with the homeowner/business The homeowner/business will have the option to make separate estimate and addendum and pay 100% out-of-pocket expense through cash, check, credit card, electronic payment (Venmo, cash app, pay pal) or financing to cover the cost of the additional expense. This proposal will be a separate document between the homeowner/business and MY WATER DAMAGE HEROand due 100% at the time of signing.

 

**The reconstruction check from the insurance company can take some time to receive, depending upon the insurance carrier. It is up to the homeowner/business as to whether they wait to receive the funds from the insurance proceeds to make the deposit for construction or if they wish to make payment in advance of receiving the funds. 

 

Payment is accepted by cash, check, credit card, electronic payment(venmo, cash app, paypal), or financing. Payment for reconstruction should typically be made two (2)weeks in advance of the time that the work begins. 

 

Delays in payment for reconstruction will delay thetime that it takes to place reconstruction on the schedule. Delays in reconstruction or cause for moretrips to the site may result in additional trip charges at $100 per each additional trip.

 

***If any payment is received by the Homeowner (or Business) from the insurance company, the Homeowner (or Business) agrees to deposit the check and issue a certified bank check to MY WATER DAMAGE HEROwithin 48 hours of receipt of the payment from the insurance company.
